High School Musical Theatre

This class is geared toward advanced high school aged performers who are interested in college and/or professional careers in theatre or music theatre. The class will cover audition book building, audition techniques, acting for song, basic movement, and vocal coaching in both classical golden age and contemporary styles. There will be a focus on the audition process as well as musical theatre history and repertoire.

The class would meet once a week for 1.5 hours. The class will cover 5 units of a typical Musical Theatre Audition Book. The class semester will culminate with a performance.

The class will have 8 meeting dates that begin on March 2, 2026 and end on May 4, 2026. Class final performance will happen on May 4, the last day of class.

Unit 1- Basic Audition skills, basic vocal and acting technique, review of Musical Theatre History, Traditional Music Theatre

Unit 2- Post Golden-Age and Contemporary Music Theatre

Unit 3- New Contemporary Music Theatre

Unit 4- Sondheim

Unit 5- Pop/Rock/R&B/Country etc.
