Pop Band (Middle School) – Session 4

Ages 11 - 14

Experience the excitement of making music with others in this contemporary ensemble class for middle school students. We’ll rehearse and perform popular music in a supportive group setting while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills.

Work together on songs drawn from pop, rock, indie, funk, and other contemporary styles while developing essential ensemble skills like groove, communication, rehearsal technique, stage presence, and musical independence. Opportunities for improvisation, arranging, songwriting, and student song selection may also be included.

Typical bands may include guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and vocals, with other instruments welcome. Amplifiers, drum set, and keyboards are provided.

This class is ideal for students with at least one year of experience on their instrument or voice who are ready to play with others and explore contemporary music in a fun, engaging environment.

Each session culminates in a live performance at Levine’s Contemporary Program Showcase.
