Welcome letter
Dear Camp Levine Families,
Welcome to the 35th anniversary summer of Camp Levine! After months of preparation, we can’t wait to “Rock the Red Carpet to Music from the Movies.”
Over the past 34 years, the extraordinary Camp Levine community has influenced thousands of children, inspired young musicians, established enduring friendships, and created lifelong memories. The exceptionally talented faculty, staff, and teen apprentices provide each child with an immersive, engaging musical and artistic experience that is unparalleled.
Please make sure to read the parent handbook and explore this parent portal. It may seem bare now, but it will fill with newsletters, photos, videos, bios, and helpful links as the summer progresses.
We can’t wait to meet you and your children. Thank you for being a part of Camp Levine!
Mary Cat Gill, Director of Camp Levine
Camp Levine Session 1 Starts on Monday - Sent 6/17/22
Dear Camp Families,
Camp Levine 2022 session 1 starts in one week! We can’t wait to Rock the Red Carpet with your children!
First Day of Session 1:
Monday June 27th, 2022
On the first day of camp, we ask that you park and walk up with your campers. Parents can pick up their camper’s t-shirt, dashboard signs, carpool map, and other helpful information.
Please know that camp staff will be extremely busy on the first day and our priority is getting campers safely settled. If you have any questions, concerns, or requests on day one, please send them as an email.
- NW DC campus: Upton St.: Park in the large back parking lot and walk to the side entrance with your camper.
- MD campus: Strathmore: Park along Tuckerman Lane or in the Strathmore Mansion parking and walk to the Strathmore lobby with your camper. After the first day, there is NO parking in the Strathmore Mansion parking lot. You may be ticketed, towed, or denied entrance.
- VA campus: Falls Church: Park along Oak Street and walk to the front entrance with your camper. Please do not use the school parking lot.
- SE DC campus: THEARC: Park in the large central parking lot and walk to the front entrance with your camper.
Testing:
Please be prepared to show a photo of your child’s negative COVID-19 at drop-off on the first day. Campers without a photo of their negative test will not be permitted to attend until one is provided. Antigen tests are fine.
Covid Policies:
Please familiarize yourself with Camp Levine’s policies and procedures.
Email addresses:
Please use the address that corresponds with your campus. For the fastest and most efficient email responses, please include your child’s name, group name, site, and session.
- camp@levinemusic.org (NW DC campus)
- camp.thearc@levinemusic.org (SE DC campus)
- camp.MD@levinemusic.org

Instruments: Campers in 3rd grade and up will take home their instruments for the first time. Remember to bring their focus instruments to and from camp daily. Feel free to encourage your camper to practice and show you what they’ve learned!
Lunches, instruments, and bags: Your child should only be bringing their lunch, snack, mask, and water bottle to camp. Space is at a premium, so it is tough to accommodate very large bags, particularly when our older campers are traveling with instrument cases. PK/K campers may also choose to bring a mat or towel for rest time.
Late drop off: If you arrive after 9:45am, please walk your child to the camp office so we can sign them in and escort them to their class. It is the best way for us to keep every child accounted for.
Absences/Early Pick-Up: If you need to pick up your child early or if your child will be absent, please e-mail your site’s email address. If your child needs to be dismissed early, notice enables us to have your child ready and on time for pick up.
Independence Day: Camp Levine will be closed on Monday, July 4th. We wish you a happy and safe celebration.
The Parent Portal may look a little bare now, but it will continue to be updated as camp progresses. Please take some time to explore and learn more about your child’s upcoming musical adventure! This includes the parent handbook, car line maps, teacher bios, contact info, camp photos, and more. The portal will be regularly updated during the camp session.

Camp Levine Covid-19 Update - Sent 6/2/22
Dear Camp Levine Families,
We are so excited to Rock the Red Carpet with your children this summer! We have updated our COVID-19 policies and want to ensure that you are familiar with them. You can read additional details on our website.
Testing
We will require proof of a negative COVID-19 test on the first Monday of camp. Please make sure the person dropping off on day 1 has a timestamped photo available to show at drop-off. At home tests are fine.
If you have not already, you can order a 3rd round of free at-home tests through https://www.covid.gov/tests
After the first Monday of camp, we will require negative tests if campers have been exposed or contracted a case of COVID-19 before they can return.
Boosters for ages 5-12
The availability of boosters for ages 5-12 is a new development. We are not requiring them at this time, however our policies for exposure and positive cases are based on vaccination status. We highly recommend boosters for this age group. Their status needs to be up-to-date to ensure they do not have to quarantine if there is exposure.
Symptoms, Exposure to COVID-19 & Positive Cases
Our policies for exposure and positive cases are based on the individual’s vaccination status. Please see the details on our website.
Masking
Masks are optional for up-to-date vaccinated individuals. Masks are still required for anyone unvaccinated, or for any activity in spaces at maximum room capacity (where no distancing is possible). All partially or unvaccinated individuals must wear a surgical, KN95, KF94, or N95 mask indoors. Please see additional details on our website.
The policies of host organizations may differ; please be prepared to follow site guidelines at our DC Campus: THEARC and MD Campus: Strathmore which are both requiring masking for everyone outside of Levine studios.
Parent Portal
Please take some time to explore our Parent Portal to learn more about your child’s upcoming musical adventure! This includes the parent handbook, car line maps, teacher bios, contact info, health form links, camp photos, and more. The portal will be regularly updated during the camp session.
